The Nightingale Project

EMPOWERING WOMEN. BRIDGING HEALTH GAPS.

Across Europe, women in rural and urban communities face growing health challenges — from limited knowledge and skills to navigate healthcare systems, to identifying misinformation. The Nightingale Project: Addressing Health Disparities for Women in Rural and Urban Communities, funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, is taking action. Through health literacy training, peer support groups, and community awareness campaigns, we’re helping women gain the knowledge, confidence, and connections they need to take charge of their wellbeing.

Through collaboration between partners from the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Ireland, Nightingale will:

  • Create a Health Literacy Training Programme – empowering women with the skills to navigate healthcare systems, spot misinformation, and make informed health choices.
  • Establish Online Peer Support Groups – safe digital spaces where women can share experiences, learn from experts, and support one another.
  • Develop an Online Peer Support Guide – collecting best practices to replicate the model across Europe.
  • Launch Awareness Campaigns & Community Outreach Events – reaching over 120 women and engaging health professionals, educators, and policymakers to promote women’s health equity.

By working together, we’re improving women’s access to health information and fostering wellbeing at the community level.
